UPDATE!!! 8th September, 2010
-------------------------------------
Well, well, well...turns out I missed on Reddit for doing the same make-my-logo-look-like-another-logo for the past 8 days as Techcrunch reports. Seems that once their article about the 50 days of logos went out they were bombarded with hateful comments and were said to have copied them. It seems Techcrunch has given up on the idea and is back to the normal Techcrunch logo...sigh.... There goes my company's paper-clip logo idea.
7th September, 2010
Not that this hasn't before, but suddenly it seems many websites are playing around with their logos nowadays.
First, Techcrunch messed around with their logo to look like Twitters as a salute to them.
Today they announced that they'll be having "50 days of logos" in which theyll have their logo to mimic logos of other interesting or important startup.
Today was the day of Facebook it seems:

Not long after news came of Google messing with their logo. Now this is certainly not something new for the big G, since theyve messed with their logo before as well.
Whats new this time is that their logo is A-LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE! Well...in motion atleast.
When you go to the main Google page, the balls which make up the logo come together in an animated fashion and form the logo as seen here

Hmm.... Then if you take our mouse pointer and mouse-over the logo, the balls move aside to sort of "make space" for your pointer and then find any and all way possible to go around it to form the logo again.

Keep in mind that while being in Pakistan, I accessed google.com and saw the same old logo. I had to go to www.google.co.uk to see what the hype was about!
Its a fun way to keep people entertained as well as interested in your brand.
These small attempts by these websites (who are already GIANTS in their own ways) show that it always pays to keep things fresh no matter how big you may be!
Now let me try and create a paper-clip version of my company logo to put it up!
